We would like for searches to be able to recognize letters that are similar to symbols.
For example a search for "Jose" would find "José"
So search would search...
e for all these symbols: é, è, ê, ë, ē, ĕ, ę, ė, ȅ
a for all these symbols: á, à, â, ä, ā, ă, ą, ȧ
o for all these symbols: ó, ò, ô, ö, ō, ő, ȯ, ø
i for all these symbols: í, ì, î, ï, ī, ĭ
u for all these symbols: ú, ù, û, ü, ū, ŭ, ů, ų, ȕ

- Yes, mostly the Alumni Directory Search
- We would like it default. So if some looks up "Jose" it will show "José" in the results. So it will recognize the "é" as an "e"

Having said that, we would like them identified as their own character too so if someone does use the correct character and searches for "José" that "José" would appear in the results.

For names with accented letters, like à, è, ì, ò, allow users to search even without making the letters accented. For example, for someone named Inès, if a user types Ines, the search should work and throw up the profile of Inès.
