When a ticket amount is split to have a tax-deductible portion, the payment syncs back to RE as a single transaction. We want to track them separately. Can we create separate gifts for the split?

Lauren Binney we can create a separate split for this within the same gift. So one split will go to ticket benefit fund and other will go to gift fund, Would that work?

Kanhai Shah Hi Kanhai, that will not work for us. We do not use split gifts in RE. I am hoping for 2 separate transactions. So if a ticket is added for $20 and $5 is tax deductible, I would want a $15 transaction to the receivable account and a $5 transaction to a gift account.

Kanhai Shah This is somewhat separate from Lauren's request, but can you show how the gift can be split into different funds on the gift record. My organization does use split gifts, but are currently unaware as to how we can create an event registration that splits the gift into two separate funds, one for deductible and one for non-deductible.

Michael Thunell We do not do this today but this is what we are working on. Basically it is easier to create a split for us as we can create a single gift for given ticket and create two splits (one for benefit fund and one for gift fund)

We are working on it and we will allow designating different funds to benefit amount and gift amount and it will create a split within the gift for different funds.

We also need this feature in order to use the payment function for events. Without it, we will need to process payments using another software altogether.
